Where did I put that list?

[Saturday: the day we plan to do all those things we should have done the previous five days of the week.]

Well, it's Saturday again. Opportunity is staring us in the face. We're up at 5:30 for that early start that should guarantee success.

Now where did I put that list?

Skip the list for now, a hearty breakfast should have been the first item . Two eggs, a toasted bagel with raspberry jam and plenty of milk. Still dark outside, so I better add an afternoon nap, if I can find the list. Probably it's mixed in the with the mail piled up on the desk.

The cat wants to go out, but he got in a fight last time and aged two of his remaining six lives, and seems equally happy to stay inside for now. Besides, it's dark outside and who knows what could be waiting out there to attack him again. I'll let him out later.

Fix the flap on the upstairs toilet, so the back scratcher doesn't have to hold up the float to save on the water bill. Surely that's on the list somewhere, but the hardware store isn't open yet, and I'm a klutz anyway. Make sure it's added to the list though.

Better check the credit cards and see when those are due, or I could read through the pile of mail for them. I'd better balance the checking account first so I know what I can afford to pay on them. I should have a budget. That's a good weekend's project. I don't think it's on the list though.

What teams are playing this weekend? I wonder what happened to the team last night. The radio would tell me, but that would be a distraction. I better stick to the tasks at hand. I'm already falling behind, and still no list.

I'll dump the trash and start with a clean slate.

Wow! The day's newspaper was out there, and two things caught my eye: the latest local gyrations, and the fact that there are two big (I mean BIG!) games this afternoon and evening. I better plan to watch the news for the latest, and get those games scheduled into that list I'm looking for.

Oh, oh! The joy of my life is awake now. I won't need to look for my list. she has one all ready for me.

"Coming, dear."

I was Hub Hopping and found you. Great read. Thanks Hub Hopping is like trying to get a cup of coffee in a Chinese Food restaurant - a good one is hard to find, so I always enjoy it when I get it.

Cute hub! I think all of has have the inclination to procrastinate, which is exactly why we have those Saturday lists! Nice job.

Ah Procrastination, isn't it a marvellous thing to never accomplish anything that is important.

Where would we be though if God procrastinated during the days he was creating?

For Dave and all my fellow procrastinators: How do we know God didn't procrastinate? After all, He appears to have decided on Eve after Adam was all ready for a ribbing!

Eve was a second thought, but only after God realized that Adam might get lonely during 'his' down time, and just maybe Eve was not meant to be permanent since she came from a rib bone that usually gets disgarded after the meal. Ooooooops! maybe I shouldn't have said that one?

Dave, I suspect there is something in our creation, at least the creation of some of us, that does a better job of adding to "that Saturday to-do list" that may have come down to us from the remainder of the list being put off for the day that followed...Sunday. Once some of us learned that we could put off things for a Sunday, we kind of liked the idea of even putting them off until the next time Saturday rolled around, and that's my take on how the "I'll do it Saturday" routine originated.

Thanks everyone for the "funny" and "awesomes. If we can't laugh at ourselves, then nobody else deserves to be laughed at. Now go find your list and start crossing things off. Make sure to mix in the easy tasks, too!

jandee: Here it is, Saturday again, and the Kentucky Derby is biting into my Honey Do List. Ah, well it's only once a year...like Pimlico and Churchill Downs, and...the garden?
